Describe your role to someone who is not familiar with the construction industry or Colas USA.
My role consists of being the asphalt/concrete that keeps other departments connected. I am in the Shop/Equipment Department, and we work with all the departments (corporate, construction, and our two companies – United Rock, and Blue Diamond).

I create rental/maintenance/capital purchase orders – allowing me to communicate with multiple vendors. I maintain fuel cards – process, decline, and fraud reports and process new cards – allowing to communicate with multiple employees.

I handle fuel reconciliation and due to my location, I can communicate directly with fuelers. This allows them to communicate any tank issues with me directly, which I then report directly to the corporate office.

As part of my accounting processes, I handle JE corrections, booking of new acquisitions, sales, and disposals, coding invoices, receiving purchase orders, prep the shop’s month-end calendar, and P&L reviews for the shop and trucking departments. I also work with construction on a weekly basis making sure they report the hours required for rental and owned equipment which in the long run it will improve our utilization reports.

Overall, I enjoy the position I am currently in and working with the finance, equipment, and construction teams. At the end of the day, we are all one team, and working in harmony will only make our lives a bit calmer and I love putting a smile on.

What has been your favorite project so far?

What motivates you to wake up and go to work every day?
My biggest motivation is the equipment department and the team we have created. They put a smile on my face every day.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I was born on Halloween and my father was born on Día de los Muertos.
