“One of the biggest challenges facing Colas each year is the exponential growth of medical costs and contributions. Lisa has worked tirelessly over the years with our medical care consultant and medical care provider to identify all viable cost savings for the company and employees. These savings are shared with the Benefits Committee, and many are implemented on an annual basis. She is fully engaged on every aspect of her job and her passion shines through on the many relationships that she has developed over the years working at Colas.”
Lisa Hoffmann is the Benefits Manager at Colas Inc., the corporate office for Colas USA. Lisa has been a part of the Colas USA Family since 2016.

Describe your role to someone who is not familiar with the construction industry or Colas USA.
I have responsibility for the benefits (such as medical, dental, vision, 401[k]) that we offer to our employees. I manage the administration and design of the plans as well as the vendor.
What has been your favorite project so far?
I really enjoy working on the Crossroads magazine, the company magazine that is published twice a year. I love coming up with the unique ideas and writing something fun, as well as supporting the editing of the final product.
What drew you to working within the construction industry?
I wasn’t drawn to the construction industry at first, as I have worked many years in the telecommunications industry. I was drawn to the company because of the job opportunity, and it helped that it was a relatively short commute.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work every day?
Helping employees with their benefit issues, including the medical plan and flex spending account.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I’m an actuary!
