Read more about Julie through the following spotlight.

Describe your role to someone who is not familiar with the construction industry or Colas USA.
My team and I are responsible for a variety of tasks within the corporate Accounting & Finance Department, including month-end close and reporting to the Colas Group, Financial Analysis, PowerBI Reporting & Dashboards, and Anaplan.

In addition, I focus on management of Internal Controls, liaising with the Colas Group and Colas IS Support on reporting, security and segregation of duties, reviewing processes, and anything else anyone asks me to do.

What has been your favorite project so far?
I have had a lot of favorite projects but there are two that stand out! First, I enjoy when I get to be creative and build something from scratch, and that was the case with the ePayments project I worked on while I worked at Colas IS Support, the information technology arm of our business. I was able to design the project from the ground up, work with the subsidiaries to determine their needs/wants, and collaborate with the vendor for a complete solution.

The other project was one I worked on during my time in France. The goal of the project was to align IT processes & infrastructure throughout Europe. I enjoyed this project because I was able to travel to different countries and work with people from different cultures.

What motivates you to wake up and go to work every day?
I enjoy discovering new and different ways to do things with the goal of helping others become more efficient through improved processes and automation.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I have lived in four different countries and travelled to 26. I even went to Australia four times over the course of 12 months.

From her nomination:

“Julie maintains a standard of continuously pursuing perfection in everything she does and that is infections throughout the organization. Julie is a fantastic resource for learning, always willing to take the time to help you understand a problem. She is very open to feedback, and constantly looking/pushing for improvements to the structures and processes that already exist. She has done a very good job of considering methods that put the company’s well-being first. With every cost that can potentially be incurred on the business she raises new perspectives that ultimately lead to better outcomes.”
