Describe your role to someone who is not familiar with the construction industry or Colas USA.
Colas USA and Colas Canada use JD Edwards (JDE) as their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system. ERP systems connect the various operations and departments throughout an organization. As a JDE developer, I am involved in development, design, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining our solutions for both the U.S. and Canada. I work closely with our Business Analysts to help support finance, manufacturing, HR/Payroll, and construction domains.
What has been your favorite project so far?
While I enjoy my role as a Developer, I volunteered for the champions program created by Colas IS Support in 2022 with the purpose of being close to our business. I saw this as an opportunity to do something different from my usual job and an opportunity to interact with the business – to know first-hand their needs and issues. I now serve as the Subsidiary Champion for Barrett Industries. It has been a great experience and I look forward to building stronger relationship with our business.
What drew you to working within the construction industry?
I have prior JDE development experience with a different construction company. After a break for maternity leave, I was looking for a new opportunity and saw an opening at Colas IS Support that seemed to be a good fit.
What motivates you to wake up and go to work every day?
I look forward to contributing to improvements of our solutions to be accurate, reliable, and efficient so that our end users can do their jobs more easily. We have a wonderful team at Colas IS Support who are great to work with. Our JDE team is awesome and having a great manager makes it easy to come to work daily.
What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I enjoy baking eggless recipes and I can speak four languages.
