Describe your role to someone who is not familiar with the construction industry or Colas USA.
At Simon, I work with the Grading and Utility crews and manage the office side of the projects. My role includes working with owners and subcontractors, ensuring good public relations, developing and maintaining work plans and schedules, ensuring resources and costs are kept up to date and correct, and maintaining project deadlines and bid scopes within our contract guidelines.

What has been your favorite project so far?
The 12th Street Reconstruction Project has been my favorite to date because I was able to work on the project from the beginning. I enjoy seeing it progress from the way it was envisioned.

What drew you to working within the construction industry?
My first job was in the materials/testing world, where I was exposed to larger projects as a subcontractor. I found the project manager’s job interesting because it seemed like it was different all the time – always a challenge and never boring. When the opportunity arose to become a Project Engineer, I decided to take it and I’ve been enjoyed it ever since!

What motivates you to wake up and go to work every day?
Having a great support system with coworkers and enjoying what I do keeps me motivated. There is always a new puzzle to solve, so it keeps the job interesting and challenging.

What’s something most people don’t know about you?
I love helping animals. I enjoy working with rescues and helping when I can.
