Colas USA has appointed John Harrington as President & Chief Executive Officer. Harrington will succeed Thierry Le Roch’ and assume responsibilities on March 1, 2022.
Harrington began his career at Colas USA in 2015 as Executive Vice President of Western Operations, overseeing the subsidiaries of Colaska Inc., Simon Contractors, and Sully-Miller Contracting Co. His strong experience − not only in the construction and engineering fields, but in leadership operations − has helped grow this area of the U.S. business for Colas.
Harrington is a product of Eastern Canada where he graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1986. He began his professional career in Boston, MA working for Coffin and Richardson as a Field Engineer, then after relocating to Southern California where he joined Church Engineering in 1988 designing toll roads through Orange County. While there, he obtained his Professional Engineering license as well as his permanent U.S. resident status.
In 1990, Harrington began his career in construction moving through the ranks of Flatiron Construction, first starting as a Project Engineer on large freeway projects to eventually running all Flatiron operations in Southern California.
In 2004, he was tapped by Atkinson Construction to be Vice President & General Manager of a startup company where he proceeded to develop and grow this California division to revenues over $300 million focusing primarily on large, complex infrastructure projects.
Harrington has been Executive VP of Western Operations for Colas USA since 2015, where he manages and leads the western subsidiaries of Sully-Miller Contracting Co., Simon Contractors, and Colaska Inc., along with Colas Construction USA Inc., the recently established major projects company under Colas USA.
