Resurfacing Interstate 55

In Missouri, 125 miles south of Saint Louis, a 70 miles long section of Interstate 55 was resurfaced by Delta Companies using our Warm Mix Asphalt, EcoMat®

This project for the Missouri Department of Transportation was one of the first to be launched as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and was managed by teams from Delta Companies. Launched in July 2009 and broken in two phases, it was completed by the end of 2010 and involved more than 250,000 tons of asphalt mix. One of the specific features of this project was the use of Warm Mix Asphalt, a first at the time in the state of Missouri. More than 140,000 tons of EcoMat® were used on this project, making it one of the biggest EcoMat® projects ever undertaken by our companies in the USA. Manufactured and applied at lower temperatures than hot mix asphalt, EcoMat® technology generates energy savings and reduces green gas emissions.

Colas USA companies are leaders in the development of Warm Mix Asphalt technologies across the country. To find out more about EcoMat® and our various sustainable solutions, please visit
